Releasing Worry November 16th (Wendy Vigroux) 1:30-3:30
We all have moments of anxiety, worry and fear. Unfortunately, this energy is a powerful magnet for more of the same. This workshop will give you tools to acknowledge when you are in a state of fear, release judgment of that and fear…and how to flip that sh*t on its head. We will do this with discussion, personal investigation, some yoga movement and mudras that are focused on releasing clogged up energy, and end with a guided meditation.
Step up Your Meditation December 7th (Chandni Rodriguez)
Meditation has long been practiced for it’s health and self-knowledge benefits. We will go through various types of meditation… Guided, Insight, Walking, and Mantra. Interspersed will be 2 periods of Gentle Asana practice. We will close with a Savasana meditation.
Life Intentions, Setting Yourself Up for Success January 18th (Wendy Vigroux) 1:30-3:30
How many times have we set an intention for January and fell through on it? We sometimes set ourselves up for failure while hoping for success. For example, you’ve never meditated before and set January 1st as the day to start to meditate daily… how do you think that will work out? Or you’ve always wanted to open up your own business, quit your job cold turkey without a plan… or lose 15lbs, then you loose 5, but regain 3 and quit? In this workshop, we tackle these and other moments when you let yourself down by using COMPASSION, forgiveness and action. Among the activities of the workshop is creating a vision board. (Please bring magazines with pictures you like or start collecting images that speak to you starting now. You’ll also need glue sticks and scissors.) Visualize a future, from a soul space, build a framework for success today, this week and beyond.
Yoga Adjustments and Intro to Thai Yoga Bodywork February 1st (Noel Irwin) 1:30-3:30
Experience deeper stretches, greater alignment awareness, and an increased sense of relaxation. This workshop will introduce yoga adjustments and Thai bodywork traction and compression techniques. Yoga for Back Pain February 8th (Faith Daniels) 1:30-3:30
Study after study has shown the positive effects of yoga on back pain. However, if you have back pain the thought of doing yoga may seem daunting. This is the class for you! Explore optimal postural alignment, relieve tension and increase range of motion utilizing the breath and soft tissue release techniques. Practice yoga asanas (poses, stretches and movement) to lengthen the spine and strengthen the core.
(Note: This workshop is not for those with acute herniation or chronic pain which is better dealt with one on one.)
Cultivating Strength: the way of the spiritual warrior March 8th (Renee Diamond) 4:00-6:00
What makes us strong? What makes us weak?
Through an in depth application of asana, therapeutics and conditioning work, we will explore where strength lives in us and how to develop it to its fullest potential. We’ll take a dynamic approach to yoga designed as a conditioning system for the lifetime yogi. (Make sure to bring a towel and water. This is full strength Diamondfit!)
Rolling techniques develop spinal fluidity and mindful energetic flow from one muscle group to the next. Key foundational focuses, such as efficient warm ups for wrists, ankles and shoulders create game changing results. Myofascial release techniques, through the use of Yoga Tune-Up therapy balls, provide immediate relief to stuck areas of the body. The workshop completes with meditation in restorative asana. Leave feeling strong from the inside out and go tackle your dreams!
Happy Hips March 14th (Renee Williams) 1:30-3:30
Sitting for long hours in offices and cars can lead to chronically tight front hip flexors. This may lead to misalignment of the hips, pelvis and overarching of the lower back. This workshop will start with a slow flow which will take you into poses that will release unwanted stress and open tight, blocked areas. Learn how the breath and holding some poses can take you to a deeper place. You’ll also learn how doing some simple shapes at home everyday may bring relief. Happy Hips=Happy Yogis! Open for all levels.
The Art of Accessible Arm Balancing March 28th (Allison Schleck) 12:30-6:30
This teacher-oriented workshop will explore the world of arm balances and how to make them accessible to yourself and your students. We will look at the principles of anatomy and sequencing for arm balances followed by an in-depth exploration of practicing a core group of arm balances using props. This workshop will include a full practice and practice teaching to become familiar with the topics explored. 6 Continuing Education Credits. $125 ($100 Early Bird sign-up before March 1st)
